ACTIVITIES FOR NON-SKIERS
“For those who love to get away to the beautiful mountains and relax in alpine paradise but who prefer to keep their feet on terra firma rather than zooming down the slopes, we’ve introduced our Mountain Host Programme to ensure that every moment of our guests’ holiday is packed with enjoyable experiences and activities for non-skiers.“
WHAT IS MOUNTAIN HOST?
We take pride in ensuring that every one of our guests has an unforgettable holiday. That means taking extra special care of our guests that prefer spa treatments and exploring the area on foot over spending their days on skis. Our dedicated Mountain Hosts will be on hand to ensure you make the most of all the activities off the mountain.
Flexible & Friendly
Our Client Concierge team will be in close contact with you before you travel to understand how we can best support anyone in your party who is not skiing. They will discuss all the options available in your resort and can help with pre-booking arrangements. There are many different options to consider depending on how active you wish to be, and we have lots of lovely winter walks to recommend so you’ll still experience the beautiful mountain environment. Once you arrive, our Powder Byrne resort team will run through your schedule and tweak any plans based on local weather conditions and our resort driver service will be on hand throughout and help to coordinate meeting up with skiers in your party for lunches on the mountain or apres-ski drinks.
Enjoying local guided walks
Enjoy the unique winter landscape around your resort by exploring one of the many guided walks or hikes. Each of our resorts boasts many miles of well marked walking trails, quickly getting you out into the silent snowy landscape. If you wish to go off the beaten track, we can arrange a snowshoe guide so you can explore the quieter parts of the mountain – highlights include discovering animal tracks, wildlife spotting and hot chocolate or lunch stops in cosy mountain huts.
Discover cross-country skiing & snowshoeing
If you are interested in an alternative to downhill skiing, why not try your hand at cross-country skiing? This often overlooked sport is undergoing a mini-revolution and is a great alternative for skiers who want a great cardio-challenge without the higher impact and speed of downhill. You can start with no experience and it is easy to pick up with skis and equipment easily available for rent in resort. Our Mountain Hosts can help coordinate cross-country skiing instruction from the local ski school. Our driver service will always be on hand to transport you to and from the skiing trails.
Other local non-ski activities
There are a whole host of other activities for non-skiers to experience in your chosen resort. Choose from indoor or outdoor ice skating and curling to horse-drawn sleigh rides, sledging and tobogganing. For those seeking a more relaxing and indulgent experience, many of the hotels and properties across our portfolio are home to world class spa and treatment facilities.
