Machu Picchu Adventure
12 NIGHTSHike up the world-famous Inca Trail and to visit Machu Picchu, one of the most breathtaking places on earth. This adventure will be specifically designed for you and our local experts will accompany you throughout your Peru trip ensuring just the right amount of exploration, fun and relaxation. The more intrepid travellers may want to consider doing a longer hike than this suggested itinerary, our Travel Consultants are more than happy to help to design your ideal Peru adventure.
Your Machu Picchu adventure begins in Lima where you can relax in your hotel before a short flight to Puerto Maldonado the next day. Go on an adventure to your hotel, arriving in a motorised dugout canoe at your jungle lodge which is host to a number of activities: jungle hikes, canoe trips or simply taking a siesta and enjoying the sounds of the jungle from your hammock.
Tucked away in the foothills of the surrounding mountains, Sacred Valley is a spectacular place with many different experiences. Why not have your guide take you cycling alongside the River Urubamba all the way to Pisac. Visit the market in Pisac and wander amongst the many artisan stalls at your leisure. You can also take out the local horses for a ride through stunning landscapes or for the adventure inclined it is a great spot for some rock climbing.
Take the train to the start of the Royal Inca Trail, making the ascent to Wiñay Wayna, a beautiful Inca ruin full of swallows and orchids. A contour path through the cloud forest leads to, the gateway of the Sun and your first glimpse of Machu Picchu. Returning first thing the next morning you have Machu Picchu virtually to yourselves with a private guide before boarding the afternoon train back to Cusco.
Spend your time wisely in Cusco as there is so much to see and do. There is the old Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman. Standing guard above Cusco, Sacsayhuaman boasts an impressive system of tunnels just waiting for you to explore or a short drive takes you to the Pinipampa section of river where you can ride the rapids in your very own inflatable canoe and plenty more sights and sounds in this incredible city. From here it is back to Lima and home.
Peruvian Activities
Often described as one of the “Great Train Journeys of the World”, this spectacular rail adventure begins in Cusco and runs south to the historic city of Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. You’ll get breathtaking views as you travel through the mountains, valleys and plains of Peru’s Andes.
The jungle comes to life very early in the morning so head out pre-dawn and discover monkeys, birds, giant otters, ants galore whilst learning about the rainforest from your expert guides either on foot or by dugout canoe.
Now with relatively easy access from Cusco, the Black Canyon of the Rio Apurimac is one of the world’s hidden gems. It combines exhilarating rapids and deserted sandy beaches to camp on ideal for anyone looking for a true wilderness experience close to Cusco.
On this cultural trek to Machu Picchu you’ll follow an ancient Incan trail through Lares where you’ll get a taste for rural Peru. Perfect for families looking to escape the crowds this 5 day trek is perfect for those who want to get a real insight into local Andean culture.
Spend a couple of days on a cruise boat out onto Lake Titicaca, a unique experience visiting a collection of islands, home to Aymara-speaking Uros people. Stay in the fantastic Titlaka Lodge which is bound to take your breath away. Continue your journey on to Amantani, where you’ll stay overnight as guests of one of the local families.
Amazonica
10 NIGHTSThe Amazon is home to some of the most interesting and rarest animals on earth. Explore the Peruvian Amazon by canoe or by foot and really get to know what living in this remote landscape feels like, all whilst staying in your clean, safe and secure rainforest lodge.
Upon arrival in Peru travel the short 50m to the Hotel Costa del Sol Ramada, a great base to explore the sights, sounds and smells of Lima from. The next morning it is a flight to Puerto Maldonado, considered to be the ‘gateway to the Amazon’, offering you an insight into rainforest life. You will be guided to your jungle lodge on a motorised dugout canoe.
Choose from a number of Amazonian activities including jungle hikes and canoe trips, or for a relaxing time enjoy a siesta with a delicious tropical cocktail in hand.
Spend the next days exploring the huge variety of wildlife that the Amazon has to offer. See the rare black caiman who inhabit the nearby waters, or take a stroll around early evening to search for the nocturnal mammals that live in the rainforest canopy.
Explore the banks of the rainforest, follow the winding, dark-water creek that is home to many piranha, caiman, turtles and birds. Stay out late into the night, when the rainforest wakens up and experience the mystery of the animals in the night.
Valley of the Incas
10 NIGHTSPeru was once part of the great Incan Empire and later the major vice-royalty of the Spanish South America. Travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas near the town of Pisac where you can cycle around the remains of the ancient Incan Empire.
On arrival at Peru airport you will be taken to your hotel in Sacred Valley. Over the next few days you have the chance to explore the town of Urubamba, which lies on the flat valley floor in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It is home to local pottery workshops, the eponymous river and is a fantastic base for many hiking and biking excursions or tours to the outlying ruins.
Fantastic views, fast descents and fascinating insights into local culture make this a bike ride to remember. Your expert guide will show you all you need to know and with the help of the latest full suspension bikes you will be cruising the trails in no time.
Start with an early transfer to catch the train toward Machu Picchu. Visit the recently restored ruins of Chachabamba before gradually ascending though tropical cloud forest up toward the base of Winay Wayna.
Visit Cusco’s stunning ruin, the extensive Sacsayhuaman then the San Cristobal church built on top of Inca Mano Capac’s Palace and see the fantastic views of Cusco.
