In-Resort Services
FROM OUR EXPERIENCED RESORT TEAMSYou will be fully supported throughout your holiday by our experienced resort team. They will oversee everything from the moment you arrive in the resort to the moment you leave at the end of your holiday. Led by your resort manager, our teams also include ski hosts and children’s club assistants. Contact details for your resort manager and team members will be confirmed before your holiday and on arrival.
We offer complimentary on-piste ski guiding exclusively for our adult clients. Our handpicked ski guides will show you around the mountain, help find the best runs on the day and book the best mountain lunch spots, allowing you to leave your piste maps unused. The minimum ski standard for guiding is confident blue run skier (Powder Byrne level 3). The maximum in a group is no more than 10 adults and the groups are often between 6 – 8 people. Each group is arranged according to ski ability. You do not need to pre-book our guiding service and can decide on a daily basis whether you wish to join.
You will receive a personal visit in the evenings from a member of our Powder Byrne team at a time convenient to you. During this visit, you can talk through your arrangements for the following day and request anything you need booked. You will also receive feedback on your children’s day in our programmes, if applicable.
We are able to request babysitting for your holiday. We recommend letting us know your requirements as soon as you can pre-travel due to high demand during peak travel periods.
Powder Byrne babysitting rates are 20 CHF per hour in Switzerland (25 CHF per hour on New Year’s Eve).
If a babysitter is to be shared between two families, the amount charged will be time and a half and the children must be cared for in one room. Payment is to be made in cash directly to the babysitter on the same evening.
Cancellation is to be made 24 hours in advance; otherwise there will be a charge equivalent to 1 hour. In the interest of safety, Powder Byrne do not recommend leaving children unattended in the hotel rooms at any time.
Where possible we use Powder Byrne staff to babysit, however this cannot be guaranteed. In the event that a Powder Byrne babysitter is not available we will try to assist by arranging a local babysitter. Costs will vary and are not controlled by Powder Byrne.
Your babysitting arrangements will be fully confirmed on arrival into resort.

Mountain Dining
GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCES ON THE MOUNTAINBelow are our recommendations for dining on the mountain. In peak season restaurants fill up fast and some restaurants do operate sitting times, so we recommend booking restaurants in advance. Please contact the client concierge team for restaurant reservations, information on sitting times and to guarantee the best tables on the mountain.
Chez Vrony is a family restaurant situated at 2100 metres above sea level and is one of the few restaurants that still uses its own organic products. Dry-cured meat, homemade sausage and Alpine cheese are all made using traditional recipes which, like the restaurant, have been passed down from generation to generation.
Findlerhof owners, Heidi and Franz, are great hosts and endeavour to give their patrons extra special service. It’s a fantastic restaurant to enjoy a long, lazy and relaxing lunch. The extensive wine list speaks for itself and is great for sampling a variety of local wines.
Le Marmottes produces beautifully home cooked food using locally produced ingredients from their own farm. The menu is extensive so there is sure to be something for everyone.
Zum See serves fresh ingredients, delivered daily, to create divine fish dishes, homemade pasta and desserts. A varied wine list of local specialities and Italian and French classics is put together with care each season.
Bontadini is a lovely, traditional mountain restaurant located on the Italian side and has a great atmosphere. They bring out baskets of freshly baked bread and tasty canapés while you choose from the regularly changing menu. The food is delicious and the portions generous valley.
Village Dining
GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCES IN ZERMATT VILLAGEPlease note that some restaurants require credit card details to confirm the booking and operate strict cancellation policies.
Grill Le Cervin is a homely and warm restaurant where guests can sit and watch the chefs hard at work over the charcoal grill. Apart from the delicious grilled meat options, there is also a choice of fish fresh from the market as well as local specialities, all rounded off by an impressive selection of wines.
Located in the Schweizerhof Hotel, the Cheese Factory gives you the full Swiss experience, with specialities including dried meats, fondue and raclette.

The museum shows Zermatt’s development from a village of mountain farmers to a world-famous alpine resort. Original houses and interiors, and recreations of the world of the inhabitants and of former alpine explorers, bring the history to life. You can also experience dramatically what happened during the first ascent on 14 July 1865.
The Gornergrat (3,089 m) is one of those places that everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime. The mountain panorama and the glorious view of the Matterhorn are unforgettable. With its sunny observation platform accessible all year, the Gornergrat, at an altitude of 3,089 m, has been one of Switzerland’s top excursion destinations since 1898. There is a restaurant at the top which is a fantastic place to grab a bite to eat.
Both of these sports are great alternatives to downhill skiing and offer an energy exerting experience in the cold weather. In Zermatt, all equipment is available for rent and lessons can be organised to gain some valuable knowledge in these 2 different winter sports. For both activities, no previous experience is necessary.
- Zermatt offers many ice sports activities, all available at the local centre. Top-quality facilities await you, and the necessary equipment is available to hire. The rink is free to use and is open from 10am to 7pm. The ice sports available are:
- Ice skating

The highest cable car station in Europe (3,883 m), with its new restaurant, sets fresh standards in sustainable development. The views of the highest mountains in Italy, France and Switzerland are breathtaking. The air up there is very thin so take plenty of water and allow plenty of time to explore.
