Grindelwald Skiing
LONG INTERMEDIATE SLOPES & BREATHTAKING MOUNTAIN SCENERYSki holidays in Grindelwald are perfect for families and skiers of all abilities. The 213km resort is well suited to novices thanks to the designated ‘Bodmi’ beginners ski area, but there is also extensive skiing for intermediate and advanced skiers. Fantastic new links to Wengen and Murren for the 2019/20 season have been rolled out with further links for the 2020/21 season and excellent off-piste and itinerary routes are not hard to find for advanced skiers. Serious skiers can take on the breathtaking Black Rock piste that comes down from the foot of the Eiger and in Murren there is the hair-raising vertiginous Kanonenrohr run. The infamous Lauberhorn World Cup downhill ski run is a great challenge and one for the bucket list for all skiers in Switzerland. The First-area is perfect for families as there is a lot of sun and different slopes for the whole family to enjoy, from longer blue slopes to steeper black runs. If you are in search of the perfect snow conditions along with stunning views then you should try the ‘Eiger Nordface’ run.

Take in the views of the impressive Eiger mountain and ski the longest downhill course in the world. Stop off at Mary’s Cafe at the bottom for its famous Suppentopf, a soup with vegetables, beef and sausage all topped with cheese.
A modern mountain restaurant with a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Enjoy freshly prepared regional cuisine and step outside to enjoy the magnificent mountain views.
Unique to Grindelwald, the Velogemel is essentially a bicycle on skis, which the local doctor and postmen use to get around the village. They are available to hire for use on the extensive toboggan slopes of Grindelwald alongside the standard toboggans.
One for the adrenaline junkies, is the First Flyer. Whiz down the mountains on this 800m cable from the top of the Grindelwald ski area down to Schrekfeld, which is included in your ski pass.
This family-run Pizzeria is located in the heart of Grindelwald village and uses an authentic wood oven to cook its delicious creations. Aside from pizza, other specialities include Raclette and oven-baked lamb.
Ski Programmes for Children
CHILDREN'S SKI PROGRAMMES IN GRINDELWALDOur award-winning and fun-filled children’s ski programmes are in full swing in Grindelwald during February Half Term.
Our unique Yeti programme for 4-9 year olds is the ultimate introduction to skiing with the best child to adult ratios available on the mountain. With our qualified ski instructors and dedicated Yeti Assistants accompanying our groups on the slopes we’re able to provide a seamless supervised programme from the moment the kids leave the boot room.
We are delighted to welcome older novice skiers to SnoZone Beginners! Our specially designed programme combines expert ski tuition and plenty of fun and games with the rest of the SnoZone crowd. Our approach enables your 10 to 14 year olds to learn to ski with peers of the same ability, while also giving them the chance to spend time with other friends in SnoZone.
SnoZone is adrenaline-fuelled and full of non-stop action! Our unique programme for 10 to 14 year olds welcomes kids who can ski confidently on red runs who want to challenge themselves by developing new skills, learning new tricks, and taking their skiing to the next level.
Ski Programmes for Adults
ADULT SKI PROGRAMMES IN GRINDELWALDOur complimentary ski guiding service and other winter programmes for skiers and non-skiers are running in Grindelwald during February half term.
Our on-piste ski guiding is perfect for competent blue run and more experienced skiers and offers our clients a sociable and relaxed way to enjoy the mountain. Our Ski Managers are all great skiers who know the terrain and how to ensure you get the most out of your skiing. They’ll show you around the ski area, advise you on the best runs, avoid annoying bottlenecks, and of course, secure the best tables for lunch.
It’s never too late to learn to ski when everything is taken care of in our Learn to Ski in Style programme for adults. We combine personalised instruction with long lunches in some of the most charming mountain restaurants. We’ll take you through everything step by step to pass on all our knowledge: from equipment to clothing, to how to walk in ski boots. We’ll even carry your skis.
Skiing isn’t for everyone, but that’s not to say there isn’t still plenty to do in the beautiful village of Arosa. Our Powder Byrne mountain hosts will show you another side to the mountains with sleigh rides, snowshoeing, sledging and scenic mountain walks, just to name a few activities on offer. Whether you’re a non-skier or simply just taking a day out, there’s always plenty to do with our Mountain Hosts.
