Polo Valley, Sotogrande

A Powder Byrne exclusive Andalusian outback adventure.

A Private Family Polo Escape in Andalusia

Nestled in the Andalusian outback, just moments from Sotogrande, Polo Valley is Powder Byrne’s private ranch, offering an exclusive family escape shaped around polo, sunshine and time together. With expert coaching, world-class ponies suited to all abilities – including complete beginners – and Powder Byrne’s renowned service, families can discover the Sport of Kings in a relaxed and supportive setting.

At the heart of the experience is an authentic Spanish Finca, discreetly positioned within the ranch. Ideal for one large family or two families travelling together, it offers en-suite accommodation for up to eight guests, a private pool and a beautiful garden dining terrace. For added flexibility, the guesthouse may also be booked on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

Learn Together – Professionally Run, Perfectly Balanced

Much like skiing, polo has a way of captivating almost everyone who tries it, offering something for every member of the family – from riding and teamwork to speed, skill and the social atmosphere of the game.

Powder Byrne’s Learn Together programme allows parents and children to develop riding and polo skills side by side, guided by experienced instructors in a safe, hands-on environment. Families can ride and begin playing polo from the very first day, with carefully selected ponies matched to each rider and all equipment provided. Children may prefer to wear their own footwear for comfort and fit.

Exclusively available during the Easter holidays, May half term, July, August and October half term, the programme is from £35,995 for up to four people, based on a seven-night stay from Saturday to Saturday. This includes exclusive use of the Finca on a full-board basis, a curated schedule of polo lessons, riding sessions and hacks, and Powder Byrne’s signature in-resort support.

Polo and Sunshine at Easter

This spring, enjoy a different kind of family holiday – one that blends sunshine, Spanish charm and the thrill of polo. During the Easter holidays, Polo Valley offers a relaxed yet immersive escape where families can learn, ride and unwind together in the warmth of southern Spain.

Whether stepping into the saddle for the first time or building on existing experience, expert coaching ensures everyone feels confident and supported. Days are thoughtfully paced, combining polo, riding and time to relax, with every detail taken care of by Powder Byrne.

More to Enjoy Beyond Polo

Polo Valley offers a wonderfully varied family holiday beyond time in the saddle. Sotogrande and the surrounding region provide endless opportunities to explore at your own pace.

Families may choose to venture into the Andalusian countryside on e-bikes, hire a Mini Moke for a day, enjoy a special Polo Valley glamping evening, spend time at one of the area’s exclusive beach clubs, or watch live play at some of Europe’s leading polo tournaments.

With deep local knowledge and a concierge-led approach, the Powder Byrne team is on hand to shape each stay, ensuring a truly personalised family experience both on and off the field.

“We were greeted with what I can only describe as an Argentinian oasis. The polo fields, stables and friendly staff just wiped away the fear I had of entertaining my entire family for a week. I decided to take a step back and let the unbelievably professional staff take over and encourage the children to get involved. The incredibly well looked after polo ponies were so calm and patient, we had a fantastic experience and the children are desperate to return.”

“Having never ridden before, let alone attempt to play polo, this was always going to be a memorable experience and the team have exceeded our expectations all around. Wow! Thank you all so much for helping to make special memories for our family. I for one may now have caught the bug.”

“Thank you so much for the wonderful week at Polo Valley. We have all learned so much in a short space of time and it was exactly what we all needed as a family, rest, relaxation and riding the most wonderful ponies and of course, amazing food. The guest house is so comfortable, the kindness and help from the Powder Byrne and Polo Valley team to us as a bunch of novices has been fabolous. We loved everyone in the Polo Valley family. See you in October!”
