Their next step: a teen ski programme built for confidence and independence

When teens start to outgrow SnoZone, parents often wonder what comes next. Powder Byrne has long delivered exceptional on-snow experiences for children and young adults, but older teens need something unique: independence, adventure, and the chance to ski with likeminded peers. Our Teenage Guiding programme was created precisely for that moment.

Why teens need more than traditional lessons

Not every teenager wants to pursue high-performance training or join an academy. Whilst skiing with parents through our complimentary ski guiding is always an option, many teens crave a more social, dynamic environment. The Teen Ski Programme bridges that gap, giving 16-19-year-olds a way to ski confidently without stepping into a formal lesson structure.

A programme designed for older teens

First launched in Andermatt and Arosa, the Teen Ski Programme offers the freedom teens want with the reassurance parents value. Groups are led by a qualified local professional and supported by a Powder Byrne coordinator, ensuring each day is tailored, safe and seamless.

This programme is ideal for confident young skiers graduating from Snozone, ready to explore the mountain at pace, discover new runs and enjoy the company of others their age.

A tailored start, then the best terrain with a local guide

The day begins with a relaxed meet-and-greet where the guide learns each teen’s skiing preferences – from favourite pistes to areas they’d love to explore. With this insight, the guide designs an experience that suits the group’s interests, ability levels and energy for the day.

From wide-open pistes to scenic routes, the guide leads the way to the mountain’s finest terrain, always choosing runs that make the most of the day’s conditions. Queues are avoided where possible, and the pace reflects the group’s confidence and appetite for adventure. Lunch becomes a highlight in its own right, with teens enjoying grown-up favourites such as the Big A Burger at Sit Hütte in Arosa, a classic Rösti at Piz Calmot in Andermatt, or Penne alla Bioch at Ütia de Bioch in San Cassiano.

Freedom with reassurance

Throughout the day, teens enjoy the independence they crave while skiing under the guidance of a highly experienced professional. Whether it’s a hot chocolate break or returning in time for a spa session back at the hotel, the balance of freedom and structure creates a seamless, luxurious experience.

Evenings remain just as social. Powder Byrne arranges relaxed gatherings – pizza nights, ice skating, curling, or even a pub quiz – giving teens the chance to unwind and connect with new friends.
