Alta Badia combines the beauty of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with Ladin traditions and culture, and a ski area with direct connections to over 500 km of slopes. Bolzano is the gateway to the Dolomites, and with a new flight route from London Gatwick to Bolzano launching this year, it is easier than ever to access Alta Badia and its attractions on and off the mountains.
The picturesque village of San Cassiano lies at the heart of the largest ski area in Europe. Take the Piz La Ila gondola from the village centre and you’re transported right into the heart of the Alta Badia ski region. From here you can ski gently over rolling terrain from San Cassiano to Armentarola. Alternatively, you could ski across to Corvara where you will find the entry point to the extensive Sella Ronda route for those looking for more of a challenge. If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous, a few options to try are the notorious World Cup slalom piste, the Gran Risa, or head across to the ‘Hidden Valley’ of Lagazuoi. The latter is one of the most memorable runs in the region surrounded by frozen waterfalls and soaring rock walls. If you are looking for or an off-piste challenge, there is plenty to explore with a mountain guide, including the extensive skiing of Arabba and the Val Mezdi.
