Journey South takes you around the southern coast of Sri Lanka, travelling from Yala National Park, to the capital Colombo. See the sights, visit the beaches and learn the culture, this is one holiday that really has it all.
Below is just a suggestion to what we can offer that can be used as a framework to start making your plans, amended, or completely changed to best suit your requirements for an extra special adventure holiday.
ARRIVAL IN SRI LANKA
Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, you will be met by your driver and transferred to your hotel. You can then spend the rest of your day relaxing by the pool and getting settled into your new surroundings.
Rest and relax on your first full day as you discover the beauty of your surroundings in Yala. After a long flight, you’ll be more than entitled to a low-pressure day where you can enjoy the local beaches and collect your thoughts as you prepare for the week of adventure ahead.
The next day you’ll visit the renowned Yala National Park where your first exciting adventure will be a dawn safari. You’ll go in search of leopards, bears, elephants, and crocodiles with an expert naturalist. With an estimated 400 elephants and 35 leopards, Yala gives you a great opportunity to see these animals in their natural habitat.
Today you’ll enjoy a final breakfast in Yala before being driven down the southern coast to Mirissa. Here you can settle into your new hotel and check out the sights, sounds and pristine beaches that surround you.
This morning you’ll be heading out to see to witness a natural wildlife beauty that manages to outweigh the Sri Lankan elephants! You’ll be taken out to sea on a fantastic excursion to see the native whales in their natural environment, and no doubt on the way see some spinner dolphins, also familiar to the area.
Continuing on your journey around the south you will find yourself in Galle. Here you will be able to experience the ever famous stilt fisherman engaging in their daily catch. While in Galle be sure to take a guided walk to reveal fascinating facts about this ancient city.
COLOMBO AND HOME
The last leg of your journey will see you head to Colombo. As the island's largest city it’s bursting with life and colour. Despite being so modern, the capital city of Colombo is an ancient place with a wealth of history to explore, we suggest you visit the famous Gangaramaya Temple, with its many statues of Buddha. The next day will sadly be your last but your personal driver will ensure you’re well taken care of and arrive at the airport in plenty of time!
