Ever wanted to visit the mountains when the snow has all melted and the summer has come around? Our Air & Space family adventure holiday through the peaks and valleys of South Tyrol gives you the perfect opportunity. With activities suitable for the whole family available and the option to hire a car giving you control over your movements throughout, this trip really can create lifelong memories.
The Dolomites are renowned for skiing, but few people know what summer in mountains has to offer. With miles and miles of trekking and biking mixed in with hidden lakes and freshwater rivers, there's plenty to do and see.
As well as being full of adventure and activities the Dolomites are able to offer so much more. For those who enjoy their food, wine and relaxation there is a world of opportunity. Even if half of the family wish to race down the mountain on their bikes there is no reason why we can't organise a full day of pampering in the spa, a cooking course with a leading chef or an exquisite wine tasting session in a mountain hut.
Throughout your journey, you will meet with specialist local guides who will be able to make sure that you experience the perfect mix of adventure, fun and relaxation all in the safest environment. This will ensure the most memorable of family adventures.
This suggested itinerary is here to show you an example of what you can experience in the Dolomites. Heard from a friend you must visit a certain town? Let us know and we can arrange this for you. Likewise not a fan of horse riding but love mountain biking, it is your holiday and with our tailor made approach we can create an itinerary specific to your requirements.
Arriving in the Dolomites
Arriving through the mountains into Innsbruck Airport, Austria is where your adventure begins. Pick up your hire car and head on out of Austria into Italy and the Dolomites. Make your way through the valleys and small villages before finding yourself in a luxury mountain lodge.
Your first morning will see you horseback ride through the mountains to a secluded alpine hut where you will enjoy lunch. Make your winding way back to the lodge and spend the afternoon relaxing in the outdoor pool.
San Cassiano and Mountain Biking
After breakfast drive through the stunning mountain roads to the beautiful village of San Cassiano. Once checked into your hotel meet with your expert mountain bike guide for an exciting tour of the Sellaronda trails.
Via Ferrata in Val Badia
Via Ferratas (roughly translated as Iron Roads) were introduced during the First World War and are protected paths with iron cables and steps or ladders. Once used for soldiers to traverse steep mountains and move supplies, Via Ferrata's now offer people an adventurous and exciting way to view the mountains with the chance to learn about the history along the way.
Caldaro or Braies-Sennes-Fanes Nature Park
From San Cassiano you will make your way back through the mountains to Caldaro for the last leg of your trip. Or why not take a guided hike through the Braies-Sennes-Fanes Nature Park. With the incredible scenery around you make sure you have your camera at the ready to take the family snaps that will last for ever.
Zip-lines and White Water Rafting
Day 6 is all about getting your pulse going. During the day you will visit a level ropes course where after a safety briefing you will find yourself swinging from tree to tree. After being up in the air it's time to have fun in the river white water rafting.
Rest and Relaxation
Spend your final day however you wish. Relax at the hotel using the pool and spa or explore the nearby city of Bolzano. Alternatively, let us arrange a wine tasting while the children play in the pool.
Return to Innsbruck
Unfortunately, this is where the adventure comes to a close. Drive back on the scenic route through the mountains to Innsbruck in time for your flight back to the UK.
Because our adventure itineraries are completely bespoke we can tailor the experiences you'll enjoy to your exact specifications. Below you'll find just a few suggestions to personalise your itinerary.

"The holiday was really, really great thanks. Both hotels were fantastic and so were both of the mountain guides and the cycling. We were very happy with the whole experience - it was a perfect family holiday. Thank you so much for organising the holiday, it was really good - all elements were fantastic - activities, hotels and food etc."
"Two nights in Venice to satisfy any cultural cravings followed by three nights in the wonderful Ciasa Salares in San Cassiano, where we were taken walking through WWI trenches and climbing in the most beautiful scenery, by wonderfully informative guide and mountain biking, all sandwiched between some amazing Italian cuisine. Our knowledgeable guide answered an endless stream of questions about the trenches from our two history mad sons. I can't remember eating more delicious simple pasta dishes in more stunning surroundings. Not to mention the Michelin starred restaurant in the hotel topped off by a trip to their indulgent chocolate room which I could happily have moved in to! We will definitely be back for skiing here as soon as we can."
"This was honestly our best holiday with our boys ever (and having had a 3 week trip to Australia 6 months before that's saying something!) - for a family holiday this is by far a better option than sitting on a beach for a week, particularly with energetic boys. Having asked for a walking/cycling holiday in some mountains we couldn't have hoped for a better itinerary."
"The Mount Adler Lodge was incredible; you felt as if you were on a film set the views were so stunning. An incredibly beautiful spa hotel with indulgently comfortable chalet and fantastic food and wine. Fabulous guides took us walking and mountain biking in the mornings then we lounged around the pool in the afternoons after well earned delicious lunches in chalet restaurants on the beautiful grassy slopes. We will do all we can to make sure we return to this hideaway gem for a cosy ski weekend; although, I can't imagine the setting could be any more stunning than it was in August in all its verdant beauty! This really was a wonderful family holiday that we will remember for a long time - your job, Powder Byrne is how you're going to top it for us next year!"
