Arriving at San José there'll be time to acclimatise before the adventure really begins. You'll stay overnight in the capital before heading towards the Caribbean side of Costa Rica on day 2.

You'll get your first glimpses of Costa Rican wildlife in Tortuguero National Park during your canal boat transfer to Tortuguero to arrive at your jungle lodge.

Its home to an impressive variety of local wildlife like frogs, lizards, butterflies and an abundance of tropical birds. Visit the village of Tortuguero to get a taste of local life in the area followed by a leisurely walk along the Caribbean sands back to the hotel.

You'll also be able to take in the once in a lifetime event of watching baby turtles as they hatch and make their way to the sea if you're travelling during their hatching season.

Leaving the Caribbean side you’ll head west via plane to San Jose before embarking on a day tour to Arenal National Park, stopping at Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens – a beautiful natural waterfall set within Costa Rica’s bio diverse cloudforest.

Days 5 through 7 you’ll stay in a hotel with its very own natural hot springs and jungle walk way entrance suspended 150ft over the jungle floor.

First you can explore the Arenal National park taking in fantastic views of the volcano and wildlife or enjoy a local culture tour at the house and farm of the first Costa Rican president.

The next day its time to jump into a saddle, a fabulous horseback riding tour to La Fortuna waterfall awaits you. Take a refreshing swim in the calm pool at the base of La Fortuna before heading back to the hotel for a much deserved meal and a spa treatment perched above the majestic rainforest.

Day 8 sees you travel further north west through the jungle and around Lake Arenal to Rio Perdido – a fantastic eco hotel set within the trees of Costa Rica’s dry forest. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool and enjoying a cocktail in the hotels open air bar.

Adventure is the focus of day 9. Following a delicious breakfast travel by tractor to Rio Perdido before embarking on a 2 hour river tubing experience through the rock gullies and towering trees. You’ll arrive back at the hotel in time to freshen up before tackling the hotels very own canopy tour.

Zipline - Whizz through the rainforest canopy on zipline wires to gain a unique view of the forest below you. A great experience, not to be missed.

Arenal Volcano Region - The active Arenal Volcano dominates the valley. Take the sky tram to view the Volcano from safe observation points and you may sometimes feel the ground vibrate and often the night sky explodes with ash and lava.

Manual Antonio National Park – Another beautiful and awe inspiring area of Costa Rica. Here you will have time to swim, snorkel, hike, kayak or simply relax amid beautiful green forest and white beaches of what many would describe as Costa Rica’s prettiest spot. You can even take a catamaran cruise to view humpback whales and dolphins.

Casa Corcovardo – Nestled within the Corcvardo National Park on the south western Pacific coast, Casa Corcovardo is an eco friendly jungle retreat only accessible by boat. Spend days walking through the jungle admiring the impressive wildlife, enjoying lazy long beach lunches and evening cocktails looking across the Pacific Ocean. Casa Corcovardo is a hidden gem, tucked away in an area that is responsible for 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity.

Monteverde Cloudforest - This is the Cloudforest of legend and film. Voted one of Costa Rica’s seven natural wonders, Monteverde is a place of tranquility, literally in the clouds above the rainforest. Explore using the hanging bridges of the Monteverde Cloudforest Canopy reserve. These tree-top walkways and hanging bridges criss-cross the rainforest in a circuit of two miles.

Monteverde Orchid Gardens - The gardens are a biodiversity research and conservation project, which you contribute to by visiting. There are 1400 different types of orchid in Costa Rica, 500 of which are found in Monteverde. The orchid garden itself boasts 426 types.
